Wizards fine Arenas for his ‘sacrifices’ for Nick Young (faking knee injury)

I know Gilbert Arenas faked it. Claimed he had a bum knee before last night’s Washington Wizards-Atlanta Hawks preseason game. Sat on the bench. Didn’t play a minute. Never took off his warmups. Then he told reporters that his knee was just fine and that the injury was a “sacrifice”, a way to ensure more playing time for backup shooting guard Nick Young. Who is also from the LA-Valley area as Nick Young played for Cleveland High & Gil playing for Grant High school, both are in the San Fernando valley area. The Team fined Arenas but did not disclose the amount.

Arenas probably thought he was doing the right thing to help Young, but the timing was slightly off since this was the home unveiling of the new-look Wizards, led by No. 1 pick John Wall, and served as showcase for a rebuilding team still committed to Arenas. It’s only pre-season so it should not be a big deal, I’m thinking Gil is waiting to play his first home game when it counts.
